Youths China Pet Collection On Display At Local Library
A nine year old unearthed discarded stuffed and china pets in an attic, starting a collection now shown in High Point Public Library. Ellen Klosterman, who found a red cardinal and china cats, has expanded the menagerie to over 70 species. Thirty items are exhibited in the children's room this month, including dogs, cats, pigs, turtles and birds. The collection features animals made of porcelain, ceramic, plastic, yarn, metal and fabric, with some functional pieces like a cat napkin holder and salt and pepper shakers. Ellen, a fourth grader at Immaculate Heart of Mary School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Klosterman.
