Forgery Ring Busted. Three Kannapolis Men Charged
Concord police say a check forging ring active in 17 cities across North and South Carolina was broken with the arrest of three Kannapolis men. Roger L. Ritchie, 22, Gene P. Trammell, 24, and James E. Hyde Jr., 21, face multiple forgery counts. The scheme used fake IDs to buy goods with forged checks written to the trio, typically $18 to $28, netting $1,000 to $12,000 from about 75 checks.
