Two Cuban prisoners freed by Castro and a woman spoke in Miami to Dr. N. M. Harrison during a recent trip. One inmate was the second in command of the failed invasion, and the interview aims to inform High Pointers about their experiences as Harrison seeks further detail.
Dr. Harrison plans to bring Borrego and Cuban youth director to High Point to tell their stories in person. Rolando Perez Rodreguez and Norka Fajoo, both linked to Cuban youth work, hope to visit and aid young Cuban refugees. Borrego taught civil law in prison and shared a Bible as guards kept light burning to disturb sleep.
A one day conference on the citizen role in city planning will be held in Chapel Hill this week at the Institute of Government. Sponsored by the Institute of Government the University of North Carolina Department of City and Regional Planning and Sears Roebuck and Co. it features Harold R. Cheek Philip W. Dondero Ray Hayworth and other High Point residents. Distinguished speakers include William L. Slayton John R. Searles Carl Feiss and Frederick T. Aschman. The afternoon session will feature stories of citizen action from Rocky Mount Winston-Salem and Greensboro chaired by HANDS and city planning leaders.
