Death in Refrigerator Promise of Alice Watson Fund
Thomasville recalls the 1936 Alice Watson tragedy as Jack Everhart is judged for leaving an unused refrigerator on a front porch. The case spurred the Alice Watson Fund awards for high school essays on preventing death in the home and on the highway. The 1956 verdict placed Everhart under conditions including a $500 fund, a grave-marker duty, and annual $100 prize disbursements for students.
