William Bevans, 76, jailed in Logansport Indiana, awaits trial for first degree murder after stabbing Nelson Anderson 74 in a quarrel over Stella Shirley 37 an inmate at White County Infirmary. Shirley reportedly opposed Anderson serenading her with an accordion.
J Worth Bacon, six years with The Enterprise and former city editor, began as city editor of the Winston-Salem Journal this week. He leads the city news desk during a period of journal improvement and a new plant. He moved his family to Winston-Salem and will oversee assignments and policies for the department.
J T Horney former High Point resident outlined Florida's wealth and growth while promoting a four day tour to Lakeland and Polk County. The event featured Turk McBee Jr a leading xylophonist and drew interest for future tours. The trip costs 48 50 and departs High Point January 12 returning January 16 with visits to Hornedenn Beach and Lakeland sights.

Filming of Peacock Feathers used an elaborate artist studio on Universal City stages to depict Lionel Clark painting a portrait. A two week ranch and mountain sequence required a vast high ceiling studio, the era’s most expensive set on the Universal lot. Cast includes Jacqueline Logan Cullen Landis Ward Crane George Fawcett Edwin J. Brady Carolyn Irwin Emmett King Aggie Herring Dunbar Raymond. The Splendid Crime at the Paramount showcases Bebe Daniels as the junior thief in a trio of crooks. William deMille wrote and directed the film, with Neil Hamilton as the leading man delivering elegant, dramatic moments.
