Two Utility Proposals Probe Equity in North Carolina Rates
Consumer group Carolina Action Group backs two measures in the 1977 General Assembly to equalize electric rates and to require a basic 500 kilowatt hour monthly allotment for $10. The plan aims to aid homeowners and small businesses but could harm heavy industry. Canvassers report wide petitions and commissions up to 40 percent for fund-raising salaries. The piece also covers Governor-elect Hunt and Lt. Gov.-elect Green space in the Capitol post restoration.
