Halifax deputy sheriff fatally wounded in arrest attempt
Deputy Sheriff Mitlawkins of Halifax County was fatally shot while attempting to arrest George Collins in Faucette Township. Collins allegedly resisted, fired at the deputy, and was captured near Littleton. Hawkins leaves a widow and seven children.

West Durham Post Office Post Office Robbed Again

Thirteen dollars in cash and 200 dollars in stamps were destroyed by nitro glycerine. Robbers left asbestos dust tracks on the floor. officers have little to go on.
