Bank South Africa faces evacuation for gold mines
A South African town of Bank with under 1,000 residents must move by end of March as government orders evacuations to protect gold mining operations. Dewatering to save 420 million dollars in gold at West and East Driefontein mines requires pumping 80 million gallons daily, while sinkholes threaten homes and farms.
