Dental Health Week Aims to Teach Kids Care

Third graders learned dental hygiene as Guilford County health department distributed health kits with toothbrush toothpaste and cavity locating tablets. Dr Don Meyers and assistant Eleanor Helms visited to demonstrate brushing and answer questions at Emmanuel Baptist Church a 230 p m program by Mellow Voices of High Point. A Bell Telephone Co program and a railroad safety film complemented the effort with the aim of fostering lifelong care for teeth.

Drama Will Highlight FSB Meet

A drama titled How Was the Trip? depicting drug abuse will highlight the Family Service Bureau’s annual meeting on Thursday at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. The event starts 6:30 p.m. with a buffet and includes remarks by president David Maynard, board elections, officer elections after the meal, and a performance by High Points Arts Council members. Reservations are due by Monday through the Family Service office or Mrs. A. B. Croom. The piece, written by Elizabeth Blake, is for Plays for Living Productions and was commissioned by the National Institute of Mental Health, directed by Patti Hale, with cast members Alan Mackerghan, Mrs. Juanita Henderson, Miss Terry Botts, and Marly Hed tick.

County funds provided for clinic effort

Guilford County Health Department has been awarded a 440 624 federal grant from HEW to operate a comprehensive health care program for children in low income families across Guilford County. The grant supports one year of operation and enables clinics in Greensboro and High Point with a staff including physicians nurses and social workers delivering home visits to families from birth to 18 years old.

Mrs. Hazzard of Shady Lane reports repeated misdials to the Internal Revenue Service due to missing the dialing prefix. She notes her number 882-2880 and an IRS form listing 1-800-822-8800, and says North State Telephone Co and the IRS provided no fix.

Fine Art Guild Plaque For Student

The High Point Fine Art Guild will present a plaque to T. Clint Hines a Scholastic Art Awards winner today in Greensboro. The ceremony begins at 8 p m in Elliott Hall at MC G Ward Hudgins president of the Weatherspoon Gallery Association will preside. The gallery opens at 1 p m for public viewing. Mrs Gloria Edwards a guild member will present the plaque to Northeast Junior School student Hines of McLeansville.

Children’s Theatre In Final Showing at High Point College

The final Children’s Carousel program titled Crossroads will be staged Monday and Tuesday at Memorial Auditorium. The 45 minute show blends sports dance, classroom movement, and various styles from Classic Ballet to American Modern Dance, with pieces on ethnic Africa India and karate. The Ballet Team, rooted in 1966, aims to educate and entertain young audiences by presenting dance as a shared human language.
