Man Shot In Leg Near Tate Street Greensboro

William Rainey of the King Colton Hotel Greensboro was shot in the upper left leg and treated, leaving the hospital. Around-town incidents include purse theft of $48 from Dorothy Moore and a gal assortment worth $35 taken from a truck at Downing Street. Greensboro High Point Airport Authority votes to purchase land between NC 68 and the northeast runway for future terminal and cargo facilities, paying 1500 per acre to W E Beegan. Two High Point students from the Bricklaying Chapter of VICA won in the oratorical contest at the annual meeting of Vocational Industrial Clubs of America in Winston-Salem. Marquez Goode captured first place with a speech on drug sedation in international affairs, Arnold Owen won in domestic affairs with a piece on Black Panther activity in High Point. Goode advances to the state contest.
