Truman Seeks UN Role as Hope for World Peace
Former President Truman told a Maryville audience that United States must join the United Nations and maintain a strong defense to support world peace. He said the U S shirked its League of Nations duty in 1920 and World War II followed, urging commitment to the UN and force if needed. The remarks were delivered at a dedication ceremony for a National Guard armory.
