Desperado Robles Dies After 90 Minute Gun Battle
In New York the fugitive August Robles perished after a 90 minute gun fight with police. A three day manhunt in Puerto Rican districts ended when officers stormed a third floor tenement on 112th Street near Park Avenue. Tear gas and fire followed surrender attempts as Robles was found dead amid a charred room, barefoot in tattered clothes with blood, a torn tourniquet, and a doll nearby.
