Smoky Mountain park bill clears second reading in NC House
STATE CAPITOL RAL EIGH Feb 21 AP The Smoky Mountain national park bill passed the Senate last week and the House on second reading by 78 to 6. The measure goes to final passage tomorrow as the House opens its first Monday morning session of the year. House Speaker Fountain saw many bills ratified while committees advanced funding for courts and state institutions with an authorized bond issue of 5 337 000 for permanent improvements. The budget cut targeted a new negro deaf and blind facility while boosting East Carolina Teachers College at Greenville and other state institutions with specified allocations for UNC Chapel Hill State College Greensboro and many normal schools and hospitals.
