Show Boat musical rooted in North Carolina floating theatre
The UNC Playmakers plan March 4 5 and 6 to stage the Jerome Kern Oscar Hammerstein musical Show Boat inspired by the James Adams Floating Palace Theatre that toured North Carolina waters 1914 to 1930. It features decorum praised in Ferber material and reproduces a section of old repertoire with famed songs Make Believe Ol Man River You Are Love.
