Assault Charges Facing McFarland in Fatal Greensboro Crash
Greensboro, Feb. 19. A charge of assault with a deadly weapon is pending against D. R. McFarland after a fatal accident on the Winston-Salem highway west of Greensboro. James Sylvester Edwards, 9, died earlier in a Greensboro hospital from injuries when a truck struck as McFarland’s car approached. McFarland said Edwards, part of a group of children walking the road, jumped into the path of his car.
