House panel adjourns as Kennedy King probe stalls

The House Committee on Assassinations voted 8 to 1 to adjourn until Monday, rejecting Chairman Henry Gonzalez's bid to oust staff head Richard Sprague. The move undermines Gonzalez as staff pay cuts bite and financing worsens.

Power costs in NC expected to stabilize by 1990

Utilities Commission chairman Tenney Deane told the Utility Review Committee that North Carolina power prices should rise no faster than inflation through 1990. Engineering director R K Roger said earlier estimates were lowered and CP and L reserves could dip to a dangerous level by 1981–82, prompting possible accelerated construction. The study foresees a mix of conservation, coal, and nuclear energy to meet demand.
