Train Car Wreck Kills Two Women in Jamestown
A mother and daughter died when their car struck a slow moving Southern Railway freight train at Oakdale Road crossing in Jamestown. Mrs. Mary Forbis McIntire, 28, died at the scene. Mrs. Alice Lovett Forbis, 60, died at High Point Memorial Hospital. The accident occurred as another car waited to cross. The train was coupling and traveling 2 to 3 mph. Coroner R B Davis Jr cited possible negligence. Alice Lovette Forbis, born December 25, 1900, was survived by her husband Issac Harper Forbis and three sons. Her obituary notes church membership and mill employment.
