Judge Hayes Awards Bank Fraud Judgments in Greensboro Case
In Greensboro on February 15 Judge Hayes signed judgments totaling 35 883.21 against Mrs J W Harriss J Welch Harriss and the D C Durland estate for illegal preference to withdraw funds before the Commercial National Bank closed in January 1982. Appeals filed with supersedeas bonds pending. Defendants seek share in bank dividends with other depositors.

Building repairs ordered after cornice collapse scare
Fire Chief B K Ingram led an inspection that found 10 defective buildings in High Point needing immediate repairs after a Sunday cornice collapse at the A E Alexander store. Repairs began on the Alexander and DeLuxe Diner fronts with others to be contacted Monday.

A walnut cast into the California coast waters in 1989 carried a note by A. P. Young asking the finder to report its journey. In 1934 guests at a Southend party in England discovered the nut.
