Final Action Looms on Vets Loans Legislation in House
Speaker Longworth indicated the measure to raise loans to 50 percent on face value of service certificates will win House approval, needing a two third vote to suspend rules. The House Veterans Committee approved a pension bill for dependents of World War veterans dating from the veteran’s death, costing an estimated 12 to 14 million dollars in the first year. The proposal would pay 26 dollars monthly to a widow and one orphan, 6 dollars extra per additional orphan, and would exclude widows without children.
