Four Rescued After Norfolk Helicopter Crash Kills Navy Man
A Naval helicopter with 14 aboard crashed into Chesapeake Bay in dense fog off Norfolk. Four crew members were rescued by local boaters, but one Navy aviation machinist mate third class from Hicksville, New York, died. Pilot Lieutenant Richard H. Wilson and co pilot Jerome Laux recovered the body two hours later with two other crewmen. all survivors treated and released. The craft was on a local flight from Norfolk Naval Air Station.

North Carolina Weekend Traffic Deaths Reported
Four NC deaths were logged by the Associated Press over the weekend including a hit-and-run victim. Lawton Morrison, 63, of Statesville, was killed near Statesville. Charles Wilkerson, 26, of Durham, died near Durham in a high speed crash. Lion King, 43, of Clinton, died in a ditch crash on NC 408. Edward Mosley, 41, of Madison, died in a head-on collision on NC 704.
