Weather toll from storms floods Parts of North Carolina
Partly cloudy and cooler weather followed Sunday rain and tornadic winds in North Carolina. The Weather Bureau reported small tornadoes near Charlotte Mount Olive Statesville and Clinton. Flooding closed roads and some plants as wind and water caused damage and several deaths were linked to the storms. Rivers rose with cape Fear Neuse Tar and other creeks cresting at multiple towns and evacuation occurred in Clyde and Rosman while road blocks and detours affected travel from South Carolina toward Asheville.

US Globemaster wreckage found in Spanish mountains
