Leaders of local women’s groups plan a Beautification Bus Tour Monday at 10 am, sponsored by the garden council with Mrs. Robert Lindsay in charge. The Redevelopment Commission provides the bus to tour dirty neighborhoods and then the new urban renewal area, returning by 11 30. Proceeds support Beta Sigma Phi shoe project.
Mrs Walter Hudgins of Greensboro will sing ballads and accompany herself on a baritone ukulele at the Friday meeting of the High Point Woman's Club fine arts department. The program starts at 12 30 p m at Mrs Fred Whitescarver’s home 1018 Country Club Drive.
Members of the Modernettes will hold a covered dish luncheon on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Max Aldridge 914 Croydon Road.
The YWCA Book Review Club will hear Miss Marcella Carter present Gardens of North Carolina when they meet Thursday at 10 30 a m. The Midweek Club will be hostess group.
Luci Johnson Nugent is said to be expecting a June birth. A photo from a recent University of Texas appearance with Dean Rusk circulated, fueling gossip and prompting jokes about the President canceling events after a pregnancy disclosure.
The Newcomers Club will meet at Adams Memorial YW on a June date at 12:30 p.m. for luncheon. Local members are invited to join the gathering and hear plans for the upcoming season.
