Korean Reds Blamed For Bloodshed
Lt. Gen. John R. Hodge, head of the U.S. occupation zone in South Korea, blamed communists for weekend bloodshed and sabotage aimed at driving the UN mission out. He cited 49 deaths, including 11 police, and said a few hundred paid agitators manipulated currency north of the 38th parallel to undermine democracy and the economy. The UN commission was denied access to North Korea, and its nationwide elections plan faced referral to the UN General Assembly.
