Southern states lead in January building gains across major cities
The S. W. Straus & Co report shows the twelve southern states posting a 69 percent rise in January building permits from a year earlier, totaling 42.59 million in 78 cities led by Florida with 18.99 million. Houston, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, St. Petersburg, Coral Gables, Tampa and San Antonio rank among top gains as eight southern states improve versus 1925.
