Mostly cloudy with rain tonight and Saturday morning in the east. Cooler Saturday with overcast skies and showers. Winds from southeast shifting to south and then west, strongest along the coast and southern portions.
Mrs Caroline Welborn of Jamestown was struck by a car at 7 o clock while crossing South Main street and was taken to Burrus Memorial hospital with a broken leg. The automobile was driven by Ira Lee Wall of Sophia an Adams Mills employee. No charges had been filed as of this afternoon.
William A. Wynne, pioneer in telephone and radio, notes North Carolina has the highest and lowest rates in the United States. Pinehurst charges $6.25 monthly for business lines while Lattimore offers a flat 50 cent monthly rate for any phone.

B M Gallimore 73 dies at his Denton home after a four month illness. Survived by widow Mrs Crissie Workman Gallimore one son Paul Gallimore of Denton three brothers J A Gallimore of Charlotte W S and F R Gallimore Greensboro three sisters Mrs W L Gordon and Miss Bertha Gallimore Greensboro and Mrs Hattie Schultz of Greensboro. A service will be held Sunday at 9 30 a m at the home, with funeral at Deep River Friends church at 11 a m. Interment in the church cemetery.
Jane Marie Saunders died at home on route 1 Thomasville. Funeral services were conducted at the home with Rev. F. R. Love and Rev. O. L. Ruth officiating. Music was provided by Mrs J D Jennings Mrs Lois Rodden and the Pleasant Grove M P Church choir. Pallbearers named Sanders Reed Kennedy and Charles. Burial at Pleasant Grove church cemetery following bad weather.
Roy Johnson 48 of Four Oaks died in a hospital after injuries from dynamiting stumps in a field. Funeral burial was held today in Four Oaks. Survived by widow Carolyn Usher of Rose Hill two sons two brothers two half brothers and a half sister.
