Democrats Hope Covington Looms for Guilford Board Bid
High Point Democrats back George Covington for a seat on the Guilford County Board of Commissioners as he weighs a run. Incumbents face no obvious retirements while Republicans grow stronger in High Point and party leaders seek a strong candidate to break the board’s solid front. Covington, ex executive secretary of the Guilford Chamber of Commerce, remains noncommittal but influential in local politics.
