City leaders authorized E M Knox city attorney Grover H Jones and Winston-Salem judge Deal to meet Ashington and PWA officials in New York bond houses on financing. In New Iberia Louisiana on February 3 the state prepared to close its case against Honora Mues 31 for the slaying of Mia Evelyn Allen Crawford 23. Testimony yesterday showed Miguel urged Crawford to run away with him. Ida Drake of Birmingham testified Miguel said he loved Crawford more than his own life and would kill her then kill himself if she did not leave with him.
Raleigh Feb 3 Judge M Meekins heard the petition by Solicitor J Powers of Kinston to bind and modify a recent injunction restraining officers from offering with silent sales slot machines. Arguments were completed before noon and he said he would render a decision Monday. He left for his home at Elizabeth City this afternoon.
At a First Baptist church conference in Greenville nearly 1,000 delegates heard leaders urge growth through adult enrollment and interdenominational cooperation. Wages in Southern mills were reported not to have fallen and no reduction expected, per W. P. Jacobs.
Fairfax Harrison, longtime railroad executive and former president of the Southern Railway, died in Baltimore at age 69 after a period of heart disease. He retired from the presidency three months ago but remained financial committee chairman, ending a 41 year career.

The Public Works Administration will start a $99,637,952 municipal power program next week after a Supreme Court decision allows it. Donors must match his blood type and have recovered from the disease. two volunteers have offered, but 14 year old Miss Johnston of Freeport is ruled out. Raymond Reall, 22, of Pittsburgh, is also tested as a potential donor.
Los Angeles reports Paul A. Wright, exhausted after two days of cross examination, testified he killed Mrs. Wright and John Kimmel after finding his wife cheating. Prosecutor Roll pressed his account while Wright collapsed and was helped from the courtroom. the defense claims a white hot anger over an apparent embrace triggered the shooting.
