Death ruled suicide in white slavery witness case

The Wagram coroner ruled the death of Barbara Peters Kelly, 28, a key witness in a white slavery case, as death by her own action. Kelly was found shot to death Friday at a tourist camp cabin after having faced a Scotland County prostitution conviction and an appeal bond. Several defendants in the federal case face charges of transporting women across state lines. The investigation cites Kelly’s past statements about taking her own life as the basis for the verdict.
