The High Point Ministerial Alliance meets Monday at noon at the YMCA for a report on plans for a city wide religious census. All city ministers are urged to attend regardless of alliance membership. Reservations by calling 38273 or 6484 by 9 a.m.

The Rev. James M. Hayes general superintendent for Baptist Homes for the Aging will deliver the morning worship sermon at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church tomorrow. Hayes, a North Carolina native, is a graduate of the church’s affiliated program.
Native of North Carolina who practiced dentistry in Wilmington for 15 years before joining mission work will speak about Congo missions sponsored by the Board of World Missions of the Presbyterian Church. He studied at Davidson College and Emory University School of Dentistry and plans to return with his wife in July for another four-year term.
The Rev. Billy Erickson will speak at the High Point Holiness Youth for Christ Association meeting at Calvary Church of the Nazarene, 603 Prospect Street, at 7 30 p m Saturday. He will also conduct the final revival service Sunday at 7 30 p m as the weeklong series ends.
The 11 a m worship service at First Pilgrim Church will feature guest speaker the Rev Leonard Leitzel along with Mrs Leitzel. The Leitzels have served as missionaries in Suri.

Two 60,000-gallon coal tar chemical tanks at the Koppers Co plant in Follansbee West Virginia exploded Friday night, turning into flames and twisting nearby pipes. No injuries or damage estimate reported. The first tank was nearly empty while the second was nearly full, with nearby tanks catching fire on their exteriors but not igniting their contents.
Betty Ann Hayden alleges in San Rafael California that actor Hayden violated a court order by sailing with his four children to Tahiti, infringing on her visitation rights after a divorce awarded him custody. The complaint was lodged Wednesday with District Attorney William Weissich.

A fire at Glen Ellyn Acres nursing home in Du Page County claimed nine lives including eight residents and a volunteer firefighter. Twelve residents were rescued, two seriously injured, as flames trapped victims on the second floor and a roof collapse occurred. Fire officials cited wiring and hydrant distance as factors. the building housed about 20 patients with multiple inspections recent.
