Army map shows first four projected passes over Earth by the Jupiter-C missile. The satellite is launched into an orbit at about a 20 degree inclination, between 35 degrees north and south latitudes, per Army-issued map released early today.
A drama titled I Dreamed I Searched Heaven will be presented by the combined Nazarene Churches of High Point at 7 30 tonight at First Church on Green Street. The cast includes about 40 with music by a Calvary Church trio and a First Church quartet. Mary Erickson directs. The event marks the climax of National Youth Week activities.
The High Point Ministerial Alliance will meet at the YMCA Monday at 11 a.m. to discuss next year’s activities. Rev Arlo F. Newell says the group may publish a church directory and that new members are being accepted. the alliance is interracial and open to all local ministers and religious directors.
The Young People’s Service League of St Andrew’s Episcopal Church Greensboro will be guests of St Mary’s YPSL Sunday evening for a covered dish supper meeting and social hour.
Green Street Baptist Church hosts its annual Sweetheart Banquet on February 14. Rev. Grady Whicker of High Point College will speak, with Dr. E W Price Jr. as master of ceremonies. Training Union leads the coronation of King Queen Prince and Princess with department nominations on a point basis.
A spiritual retreat for ministers of the Greensboro District of the Methodist Church will be held February 11 at Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church located near Greensboro on the old Burlington highway.
Morning service at High Point Friends Meeting House on Quaker Lane will be led by Guilford College youths. Three Guilford foreign students will speak briefly and the Girls Chorus will sing. Participants include Nancy Clinard presiding clerk Melinda Nixon recording clerk and Jimmy Frazier treasurer. Youth and Junior Youth Fellowship members sit in reserved pews.
The Rev. James L. McClure of First Church of Christ will lead devotions at 7:30 p.m. during the North Carolina Missionary Rally from February 4 to 6 at North Winston Church of Christ in Winston-Salem.
Miss Dixie Roach will represent First Evangelical and Reformed Church at a Southern Synodical Planning Council meeting in Thomasville on Sunday afternoon. The council will map plans for the year and officers will attend workshops on commission work.
W. O. Coe of Charlotte starts a two week revival at High Point Seventh Day Adventist Church with an opening sermon titled Whose Sputnik? Evening services run daily at 7 30 through February 15.
Wesleyan Youth Week held by Providence Wesleyan Methodist Church on Fairfield Road runs February 5 to 9. Weekend revival services will be led by the Rev. Harold. More details on page two.
Cape Canaveral reports the Army satellite will travel around the globe in a fixed attitude, nose first for half the orbit and tail first for the other half. The 30 pound Jupiter-C stage, 80 inches long and 6 inches in diameter, illustrates this behavior with a pencil and ball analogy.
