New Omnimatic Direction Finder Aids Pilots At 100 Mile Range
A new Omnimatic direction finder designed by William Lear promises safer flight for all pilots. The system uses Omnirange signals to display a pilot’s position and direction on a dashboard map, with a 100 mile reliability and automatic clearance if a station fails. Deployment includes 300 existing Omnirange stations with 170 more planned, and it can be adapted for instrument landings via a runway approach pattern.
