Plane crashes into Monongahela River near Pittsburgh

An airliner with 28 aboard including 23 veterans crashed into the Monongahela River near Pittsburgh. Ten men remained missing at dawn while 18 survived, pulled onto riverbanks by rescuers. The DC3, en route from Newark to West Coast forts, sank in 12 feet of water after a dusk landing.
