Shipman defers workmen compensation bill to labor groups

Raleigh dispatch reports NC Labor Commissioner M L Shipman will not draft a workmen's compensation bill for January. He outlined principles but plans to let labor and manufacturers present their own measure. A recent NC Federation of Labor account misrepresented his position. Cinders soaked paraffin tested as a fire starter.

Greek Met Turk Meeting Ends In Dispute On Immigration

At Lausanne on December 21 the session of the Near East Conference minorities commission broke up after a heated exchange between ex premier Venizelos of Greece and Turkish nationalist delegate Riza Bey over Greek immigration and deportations. Venizelos denounced Angora policy while Riza Bey blamed him for the Turk Creek War and its results. The quarrel interrupted proceedings as both spoke simultaneously and refused to calm.
