Hasty residents lose bid for traffic light at Hasty School Road intersection
A petition with 1,030 signatures to install a traffic signal at the Hasty School Road and High Point Thomasville Road intersection was denied by division engineer Ken Horton of the State Highway Dept. He cited lack of justification after traffic counts, accident data, and on site review. If landowners consent, plans call for a grass bank slope and a median in a service station lot. Davidson County Chairman Joe Berrier criticized the ruling and will seek intervention from Brown Loflin. Also notes that US senators shifted to direct election in 1918.

Archdale Eyes Water Bonds with FHA and State Grant
Archdale votes needed to approve 1.909 million dollar FHA loan for a water distribution system costing about 2.503 million. A 590 thousand dollar state grant funds part of the project while no state repayment is required. A contract with North Davidson Water Co. covers water lines from the Yadkin River to Archdale limits and a 500 thousand gallon tank. The system will serve city and Trinity customers. Davidson County agreement allows Trinity taps. Sewer may come later, six to twelve years, under regional planning.
