The Japan Cotton Yarn and Cloth Exporters Assn reported 2 830 000 pounds of yarn and 180 500 000 square yards of cloth ordered, mostly by the United States but including other countries. Canada bought 8 600 000 square yards, four percent more than the prior month, as a ban on new Canadian cloth contracts was imposed amid U S dumping concerns.
