The piece analyzes whether Franklin Roosevelt might rethink 1940 in light of Theodore Roosevelt's legacy and the 1912 progressive ticket. It considers the possibility of a conservative liberal realignment in Washington and whether a 1940 run or a delay to 1944 would better advance liberal and conservative goals.
