A Marine sergeant recalls an ambush near a jungle trail five miles south of the demilitarized zone. The unit, including Shepherd and five other Marines, set up in a position around 1:30 a.m. last week. He is currently in a Dong Ha dispensary receiving preventive rabies treatment.
