Y's Men Start Sale Of Christmas Trees
The Y's Men Club will open Christmas tree lots in High Point this weekend with three locations at College Village Shopping Center Kmart parking lot and the Coca-Cola Bottling plant. Hours are 10 am to 10 pm daily and 1 pm to 10 pm on Sunday. Tim Yates urged early purchases due to a tree shortage.

Steam Train Makes Last Trip Through High Point
The steam powered Southern Railway education train, pulled by 1904 Locomotive No. 722, will pass High Point on Thursday at 10 55 a.m. en route north from Thomasville to Greensboro. Reservations for individuals or groups available at the local Southern ticket office at West Point Avenue and Courtesy Road.

Bomb threats disrupt High Point, two evacuations total
Two bomb threats kept police busy Friday morning in High Point. The Holiday Inn on South Main Street was evacuated after a caller warned of an 8 15 am explosion. A second call targeted High Point Department of Social Services, prompting no evacuation. No bombs were found and suspects remain unknown. Police also reported multiple thefts and a DUI arrest among ongoing incidents.

Eight people sustained minor injuries in multiple crashes around town on Friday. Geneva Southern Smith of BE. Lexington Avenue and Beverly Garner Lackey of Ingleside Drive were among those hurt on N Main Street near Old Winston Road. Two Archdale residents Karen Clark and Larue Cox Jr were hurt on W Fairfield Road and Emerson Street. Dolores Lai Jones and J C Moore were injured in a four car collision near Ingleside Drive. Floyd Herndon and Danny Kearse treated after a separate incident. Lee Lindsey faced a charge for failing to drive on the right side.
