A mixed reception Saturday night honored Miss Dorothy Jean Coltrane bride elect. Guests from Asheboro Randleman and Winston-Salem attended as gift baskets and corsages highlighted the pastel decor. She will wed John Earl Jenkins Jr. December 20 at Archdale Methodist Church Huntington WV.
A Friday evening bridal shower for Miss Shirley Ann Welborn was hosted by Miss Edith Roach Miss Jewell Balkeum and Mrs M J Balkeum at Short Smith Street. Guests enjoyed games prizes and refreshments with white and green decor and gifts including a large umbrella and corsage. Miss Welborn daughter of Mr and Mrs Dennis Welborn is engaged to Albert Guy Meredith Jr with wedding set for December 23.
The Canterbury Club will meet with Mrs J W Lindsay at her Hillcrest Drive home Friday afternoon at three thirty.
The Mu Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will meet tonight at seven o'clock at the Presbyterian Home. They will present a Christmas program in place of the regular monthly meeting.
A buffet supper at the Risch home on Wellington Road honored Miss Patricia Hubbard bride-elect and Calvin Chalmer McLean Jr. of Greensboro. The informal party featured linen lace tablecloths, chrysanthemums, carnations and narcissus centerpieces, and six silver candelabra. Sixteen relatives and guests attended as Hubbard and McLean prepare to wed at Wesley Memorial Methodist Church on Saturday.
Y W C A Monday events list Jr Hi Y Teen and Y Wives Christmas packages. Tuesday and Thursday swim times for elementary and junior high girls at the Y M C A with opening and closing hours. Evening clubs include Business and Professional, Bridge, Y Stardusters, Agenda Club, Adams Club and Y W wives. Saturday features a Spaghetti Supper for the Young Adult Department.
The Catesby Bird Club will meet Tuesday evening at eight o clock with Mrs Edith Sherrod at her home on Roland Park Avenue. Associate hostesses are Mrs Minta Hughes and Miss Marjorie Welborn. Mrs Worth Ivey will present Birds At Christmas and the Christmas bird count is scheduled for December 26.

Mrs W N Griffin returns home from hospital in good condition. visitors welcome. Mrs Ruby Rogers enters High Point Memorial Hospital for minor surgery yesterday.

Plans are complete for Ladies Night by the High Point Kiwanis Club to be held tomorrow at Emerywood Country Club at 6 30 p m. About two hundred Kiwanis ladies are expected. President Joe H Smith will toast and preside with Worley as toastmaster. Other members assist with the event.
