The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports High Point led for its size with 408 new dwelling units begun or authorized, 8.6 per 1000 population, above the national 6.5 and the South Atlantic 6.3. Value totaled $5.746 million at a regional median of $14,064 per unit.
In Richmond, the Overnite Transportation Co. board posted six months to June 30 1959 revenues of 6,759,618 up from 5,534,666 in 1958 and net earnings of 203,268 versus 189,115. Directors cite high operations and set a 12 cent dividend payable Sept 15 to holders of record Sept 1.
