Pool Filtering System Restores High Point Boys Club Pool
The North Carolina Board of Health closed the Salvation Army pool behind S Main Street for lacking a filtering system. After a quiet city effort led by High Point civic groups and the Jaycees the filter was installed and the pool reopened for the season. Maj Charles Sams said about 500 Red Shield Boys Club members lost a swimming site during the closure and will have access for about a week more. The Health Dept required a bath house and scum gutter but funding limits may delay those features until next year. A donor list from local clubs covered the filter project.
