Tires as a new oil source eyed by Goodyear and TOSCO
Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and The Oil Shale Corporation pilot a scrap tire process near Golden Colorado, reclaiming oil, carbon black, and steel from eight million tires a year. The plan uses pyrolysis to convert tires into usable petrochemicals aimed at boosting petroleum supply and supplying refined products for rubber, heating, and gasoline components.
