Judge rules women may wear shorts in public in Kansas City
Circuit Judge John H. Lucas ruled that a woman is entitled to wear bermuda shorts in public and that a man should not comment on it. The decision followed the case of David Ogelbee who was fined 50 dollars for disturbing the peace after an incident with Edna G. Slaughter and three companions. Slaughter testified Ogelbee made a remark about her shorts and allegedly slapped her. Ogelbee denied striking her and said she chased him with a mop handle from the shop.
