Park and Shop plan boosts downtown parking effort
The addition of a new parking building expands off street space for downtown High Point. The non profit Park and Shop group, led by Arnold Aronson, has attracted only 18 merchants, and major Main Street names have largely declined the low cost proposal. The system lets shoppers park, get stamps at participating stores, and redeem stamps at the lot, funding parking through small merchant fees. Park and Shop is one year old and still building participation.
