Hunters to use point system in North Carolina duck season
Tarheel duck hunters will use a new point system for the 1974 75 migratory waterfowl season adopted by the NC Wildlife Resources Commission after a public hearing on August 14. The plan sets a 55 day split duck season from October 9 to 12 and November 27 to January 16 with a 100 point daily limit, and 70 point ducks like female mallards and hooded mergansers receive extra protection. Sea ducks have a separate schedule with a 10 point value during the main duck season and 7 per day otherwise. coots follow the duck season with a 15 daily bag. The Canada goose limit remains one per day, two possession. The hearing noted a statewide compromise balancing coastal and inland hunting interests.
