Danville Officers Fined for Deaths in Highway Chase

In Wentworth August 18, superior court fined two Danville Virginia policemen J D Davis and John W Wilson sixty dollars plus costs after convictions of assault in the deaths of four people in a highway crash. The jury acquitted them of manslaughter. The chase began when officers fired at a car carrying Joseph Pass and Charles Fitzgerald, both described as Negroes, causing it to crash into a truck owned by J W Dabbs and J Y Chandler, killing the Negro occupants and the farmers.
