Oyster Shucker To Be Shown In Orangeburg

Sterling Harris, retired founder of Blue Channel Corp, will demonstrate a pneumatically powered oyster shucking machine in Orangeburg at Stall-Walters Co. It shucks one oyster every three seconds and aims to aid processors facing a shucker shortage. Harris cites Chesapeake Bay oyster dominance and notes production costs could reach thousands.

MGM Back Lot Historic Sets to Be Razed for Luxury Complex

MGM will bulldoze its 68 acre back lot No 3 in Culver City this month to clear space for a 60 million condo and apartment project. Readable remnants include the Boom Town street set and Showboat water tank with others slated to disappear. The ITT Levitt project will preserve some trees and redesign a lake while keeping Tarzan era foliage. MGM president James T Aubrey Jr notes moviemaking realism drives the plan.
