Wilson North Carolina August 12 AP Sheriff W A Weathersby of Wilson County was arrested twice in one night on drunken driving charges by State Patrolman F B Le and Detective P R Harris. Coroner W C Martin served warrants but did not detain him. Previously he faced a 194? drunken driving charge and was removed from office after a poll day incident.
Edgar Mutt Anderson 22 of Randleman died in a local hospital at 4 AM from bullet wounds allegedly inflicted by Millard Wright who is jailed in Asheboro. Wright says Anderson threatened his life at Gaither Wright station Saturday night. Police report no murder charges yet. Anderson survived by his mother Mrs. Emma Anderson and several siblings. Funeral plans incomplete.

LEMMON Aug 12 A transient Floyd Hutchison of Alliance Neb said he admitted participation in the kidnapping and slaying of Charles Mattson. Police chief Pat Jones reported Hutchison told investigators he and a companion visited Dr W W Mattson in Tacoma Washington last December to obtain narcotics and abducted the boy days later. Federal investigators at Seattle questioned the tale as dubious. Dr Mattson denied any contact with men seeking narcotics in December.
About 200 men and women textile strikers fled as a gas bomb was thrown by a Paterson deputy sheriff in Little Falls New Jersey. The deputy said the blast aimed to stop pickets crossing the street in front of a laundry after an agreement was violated.
