Salisbury Man Ends Life On Eve of Sunrise Wedding
Homer L. Lyerly, 40, of Salisbury, killed himself Tuesday before an intended sunrise wedding to Miss Lena Brown of Granite Quarry. He was found at his father’s home with a pistol nearby after a statement to his fiancee and officers. Funeral set for Thursday at 10:30 A.M. at St Peter’s Lutheran Church.

Rites Thursday For Youth Accidentally Killed Here
Funeral services for Clarence Eugene Stout 17 of Grace apartments South Main street are set for Thursday at Marlboro Friends church. Stout died from a self reported accidental gunshot wound while demonstrating a .25 caliber pistol to peers. Witnesses identified include Bryce Leonard Everett Burton Lawrence Whitaker and Harris Moody. He was born September 27 1919 in High Point adopted at two and survived by his father and foster father plus four brothers and three sisters. Interment will be in the family plot at the church cemetery following a 1:45 pm home service.

Minor disorders and rough handling by pickets were reported as about 55 workers showed up while 280 normally are employed. Four Sisters Die in Lightning Bolt Near Creedmoor Farm
In Creedmoor, four sisters Miss Maurice Hester 24 Vivian Mae Hester 19 Mary Swain Hester 16 and Edith Hester 18 were killed by a single lightning bolt while working on a tobacco bench. Their father Edgar Hester a prosperous tobacco farmer said all five relatives were nearby when the bolt struck. The bodies showed no sign of the shock and were found dead before help arrived. Maurice was a school teacher while the other two sisters were students.
