NASA announces a Delta rocket launch from Cape Kennedy to place Pioneer VII into solar orbit next Wednesday. The 140 pound drum shaped craft will study atomic and sub atomic particles and magnetic fields, sharing data with Pioneer VI Mariner IV and other observatories.

James Donald French was executed at Oklahoma State Prison for the 1961 murder of cellmate Eddie Shelton.
